This is the first picture in a 2 part series. I'm so amazingly happy with how this turned out. I didn't like it at first. I was pretty damn close to not finishing, but I'm truely happy that I did.
First off one of my markers exploded and got purple all over the picture and made me cry. Then the colors weren't staying in the lines and were bleeding everywhere. Yet here it is, finished and beautiful.
She is an Irish Elk. This is an extinct species of elk that had antlers so large that the animal found it hard to maneuver around. YES, I know, only the males have the antlers, but you know what? You can bite me! I think its beautiful and you can't stop me! MWAHAHAHA!
Anyways: the background is water color and everything else is done in prismacolor marker and outlined with pencil. I'm glad that I'm getting farther away from the big bold black lines. I think this makes the picture a lot more fluid.
So to further go into the picture for those curious, everything is in batches of 3 symbolizing the Holy Trinity. Also there are 7 patterns of sun rays on her antlers. There are 12 open leaves on the vines, symbolizing the 12 tribes. In her necklaces is an Irish Cross and the star that lead the 3 wise men to Jerusalem, as well as the sun = Son. Everything else is just for fun
Wow. Just. wow. I am glad you persevered and finish because the end result is fantastic. I didn't even notice the bleeding colors until you mentioned nor can I locate where the purple exploded.
and especially this combination of details and painting "crude" (I like the moss and the elk's facial expression)
and well... I know some mentioned it before, but the colours ARE amazing^^
